He holds up a shell, against the end of which he rests his chin, in his right hand: a cornucopia, surmounted by a socket for a candle, is in his left. Beside him a vase designed as an inkstand, adorned with a shield of arms. Plate XXVI. H. 8-3/8 inches. Good 20. M. 17,500 Would not consider. Many better in existence.

M.B.35. FEMALE SATYR AND YOUNG FAUN. RICCIO. She stands holding a shell from which the young faun is drinking: on the ground beside the latter a tall vase, the handle of which he grasps. A lizard creeps out of the hollow stump of the tree and a serpent lies in the grass near the hoof of the faun. Pfungst Collection. Plate XXVIII. H. 10-3/8 inches. Good. 30. M.B.143. ABUNDANCE. Venetian. Late XVI century. Full-length female figure draped, standing upon a vase-shaped pedestal which is ornamented with masks and figures of satyrs with fettered arms. Her thick hair falls upon her neck, she turns her head and looks to the left. Her left foot planted on the ground, her right partially raised. In her right arm she bears a cornucopia filled with the fruits of the earth; with her left hand she holds up the folds of her robe. Her feet and arms are bare. The center of the cornucopia forms the socket for a candle. The satyrs on the pedestal are founded upon models by Riccio. H. 20 inches. Plate CIII. ? 19999 L ? air. 32,500. Good.
