Court Yard. K88 A LARGE VASE IN WHITE MARBLE. By Edme Bouchardon (1689-1762). The rounded part of the bowl is decorated with two masks united by garlands of flowers, fruits and ears of corn. From the bottom, with cabled groovings, spring two dragons, contained in a volute, which takes the place of handles. The piedouche is fastened to the bottom of the vase by a torus with twines and flowers and ends in a doucine ornamented with leaves of acanthus. The upper border of the vase is ornamented with a row of medallions alternating with little leaves. Made for the Chateau La Muette, Paris. FROM THE COLLECTION OF RUDOLPHE KANH. Height 52" nil
