M. Knoedler & Co. March 16th, 1899.

Mr. H. C. Frick, Pittsburg, Pa. Dear Mr. Frick: In their letter of March 8th, Messrs. Obach & Co write us as follows. "We are in receipt of your favor of the 24th ultimo, and accompanied Mr. J. M. Swan yesterday to the American Consul, certificate, which we trust will enable Mr. Frick to procure the reduction on the import duty for the artist's bronze, "Running Leopard," shipped by us on Sept. 23, 1898." We enclosed the aforesaid certificate and hope it will answer your purpose. Will Mr. Knox be likely to come to New York to give sittings to Mr. Chartran between now and the end of April? If not, we might arrange to have Chartman paint the portrait in Pittsburgh, if you desire, as he will very likely have to go West to execute several commissions. With kind regards, believe me, Very truly yours, Roland F. Knoedler I enclosed Office of Mar 17 1899 Ans'd H. C. FRICK.
