back to the time when I had the great satisfaction of meeting J. F. Millet.
With the Canal of Hazenbrouck (Clear Night Salon Champ de Mars 1895) I come back to more special effects of our regions charged with light and fine mists. - In the loneliness of a wild vivary the small pond reflects a ray of the moon, glancing with satisfaction at the dispersing vapors.
This in brief is the gray night which upon your request I am glad to exhibit in Pittsburgh (Salon 1892)
To the first apprehension of a painter, drawing his work is to go so far, success the satisfaction of being appreciated and well understood.
I beg of you therefore to accept my devoted sentiments with my sincere thanks.
