THE PRESBYTERIAN UNION OF NEW YORK REV. H.G. MENDENHALL, PRESIDENT 156 Fifth Avenue New York March 12, 1918
Hon Henry Clay Frick New York Dear Sir: In behalf of The Presbyterian Union I extend to you our appreciation of your courtesy on last Saturday afternoon. While there were not so many ministers present as we had expected (their absence arising from a confusion of may notices sent to them at the same time) those who were present were delighted with your works of art and unbounded in their praise of your hospitality. I do not know that Mrs. Frick will recall me but I met her in her home when I called on her sister, Miss Martha Childs, whom I also met on different occasions at the "vans" and Foster's home in Oakland, this was during my pastorate of the Sixth Church in 1878-80. Thanking you again for your very great kindness Sincerely yours H.G. Mendenhall
