Letter

New York Sep 3rd 1897 H. C. Frick Esq.

Dear Sir

We try to acknowledge receipt of your telegram and letter of yesterdays date informing us of your decision regarding the Corot which needless to say we regret, for it would have afforded us a great deal of pleasure as well as satisfaction to have placed such a picture in your collection and we you would have ended by feeling very proud of your purchase, but would not wish to press the sale of a work that did not appeal to you.

The picture arrived quite safely this afternoon and we must thank you for your care of its safety.

We were disappointed at not receiving your Tadema yesterday but glad to say it came to hand today in time to be repacked and sent off per Adams Express to your address, and would like to hear of its safe arrival.

We remain Yours obediently Arthur Tooth & Sons Indecipherable initials beneath corporate signature
