My dear Mr. Frick,

As requested I am sending you to Pride's Crossing three sets of the Morgan Bronzes Catalogues, six volumes in all and also the original typed list of Bronzes which we received from the Morgan Estate. In one set of the catalogues I have marked all the Bronzes purchased by you and have also indicated just where the remaining pieces are. Those marked "Duveen Brothers" are all still in our possession; those which Mr. Morgan retains in his library here and in his father's country house at London are so marked. The only Bronze that that [sic.] we have parted with is number 125, "Pope Gregory" the 14th, which Mr. Morgan recently purchased from us for $10,000.00 as a wedding present to one of his relations and this item is so marked in the catalogue. This Bronze is not of great artistic value and we do not think that it would have a proper place in your collection.

All of the Bronzes which we purchased from the Morgan Estate are illustrated with the exception of numbers 232, 236 and 237. Number 232 is a Group representing "Virtue Triumphing Over Vice" by the great Cellini; it stands in your library. Number 236 is an upright figure of Venus by Peter Vischer, which stands in your small Limoges Gallery; and number 237 – the two Bronze Fire Dogs in your picture gallery. These were evidently purchased by the late Mr. Morgan after his catalogue was compiled by Dr. Bode which would account for them not being included therein.

It has given me particular pleasure and satisfaction to secure for you all of the finest Bronzes and Limoges Enamels in the collections which we purchased from Mr. Morgan, End of Page 1
