Dear Sir, I just write to say that I ahve had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Dunn, + in accordance with your request, I am now trying to arrange for this gentleman to see the Holbein, + I have no doubt he will do so in due course. I may tell you the position is a very delicate + difficult one. The principal difficulty lays in the fact that Lord Radnor is by no means keen to sell his Picture, + it will be a matter of much persuasion to induce him to do so. His Lordship is not in any sense offering the Picture, hence he End of left page Beginning of right page will not allow any Dealer in his house, + what I have to communicate to you has to be done in a very delicate way + confidentially. As I told you in my first letter Lord Radnor was approached on behalf of Germany, when he was offered £70,000 for it, but this he would not consider for a moment + so refused it, but he has said that he would part with it for £100,000. This sum he would take, but my conviction is that he might be persuaded to accept £90,000, but honestly I am sure this would be his absolute lowest figure, + even at this I don't think it would be easy to get his acceptance. You see it is a very superb example, none finer exists + it is admitted to be the masterpiece of Holbein in this country - End of right page
