Do you not think that $9000.- net would be a fair price for the Tadema or is it a little too much.

We thank you for the good word that you gave Mr. Samuel Mather in Chartran's behalf, and, as far as I am concerned, I do not see any objections to his having the picture painted from a photograph of his father, and his own as well.

Mr. Chartran has recently finished a portrait of Mr. S. V. Harkness which the family say is a great success. No doubt Mr. Mather knows him. Chartran has also begun the portrait of Mr. L.V. Harkness, a son of the former.
