heading in green ink: Aelbert Cuyp. 1605-1691 in graphite: 1620
The son of Jacob, was born at Dordrecht. Studied under his father. Married, and lived chiefly on his handsome estate Dordury[?] etc, near Dordecht, in which town he was considered of some importance. His name does not occur in the records of the Guild: it is thought by some that he may have practised only as an amateur but little is known of his life. symbol in green ink: Ŧ
