December 31, 1909.

Dear Mr. Fry:–

                           Thanks for your favor of the 16th. Of course, that

Van Dyck does not interest me. Regarding the other picture of which you write, I do not think i would care for it for my collection owing to the subject.

                           I just cabled you as follows: 
                                               4-24-1a (now in Frick Coll.)
      "Are you familiar with Vandyck lately sold by Earl Clarendon
       being seventh Earl of Derby wife and child. Picture now
       here. Cable reply." 

The picture referred to is here and has been offered to me, although I have not seen it, as they ask a very high price for it.

                         I enclose you a letter just received. If you think it

worth while, you might at my expense go and look at this picture, but the price seems very high.

                         Should you come across anything important, you

might if you please call it to my attention from time to time.
