[[Stamped in blue ink: OFFICE OF H.C. FRICK RECEIVER NOV 14 1911]]

Oct. 30. 1911.

Dear Mr. Frick I am on my way back from Helmsley which is in the Yorkshire wolds, where I have been to examine the Rembrandt. You will know it's [sic.] general appearance by the reproduction in Bode's book The colour is very rich and shiny the general tone dark and transparent to the left is a vague suggestion of a harbour with ships at anchor

[[annotated in graphite: Typewritten Copy--given to Mr. M. E. to take to Mr. Frick - May 4, 1912]]
