Many of the pictures are familiar to me. My chief reason in now writing is in connection with a paragraph in [[underlined: The Boston Transcript]] in which is stated that you have just bought the Gainsborough Portrait of the Hon [[underlined: Anne]] Duncombe. The lady in the portrait (who I have known for many years) is [[underlined: not]] the Hon. Anne Duncombe but her elder step-sister the Hon. Frances Duncombe [[?]] Mrs. [[?]]. The real history of this picture is known to only two persons, Mr. [[A?]]. [[Granes?]] & myself.
