M.M. 173. CASKET of Brass covered with plaques of Limoges enamel by P. Courtois. The Story of the Jews. Painted in colours. The mounts are of silver gilt. On the arched cover are scenes representing the Children of Israel fed by manna and quails, at the ends Tobias and the Fish, Hagar and Ishmael, Sennacherib while worshipping is slain by his sons, and Adrammelech and Sharezer, and Tobias and Sara at prayer to drive away the evil spirits. In front is the Feast of the Passover, and at the back is Shaban, the Scribe, reading the book of the law to the King Josiah. Signed in two places. 15,000

The plaques at the ends of the lid show a child leaning on a skull with the motor "moment more vino".
