M.B. 69. CASKET AS AN INKSTAND. Paduan. Follower of Donatello. XV Century. Oblong in shape, supported on female demi-figures with upstanding wings and claw feet. In the centre of the sides are female busts in high relief, the hair adorned with thick garlands of fruit; each bust is surrounded by a wreath supported on either side by a centaur with a nymph on his back. The ends of the casket are decorated with a festoon and the head of Medusa. The lid is adorned with a band of ornament of imbricated design; at the top in the centre are the arms of the Chigh (?) family surmounted by a cardinal's hat and enclosed within a wreath bound with fluttering ribbons; nude winged putti in full length stand on either side. Ducal Palace Urbino and Barberini Coll'n. Rome. Plate XLII. H. 9-7/8" $1,500.-

M.B. 114. PORTRAIT OF MARCANTONIO PASSERI. Padun XVI Century. Probably Andrea Riccio. Bust almost life size, with bald head and square shaped beard; the robe is fastened in front by a ribbon. The treatment is simple and lifeline. Plate LXXIX. H. 15 1/2" Wooden stand for the above Bust. 15,000.-
