My dear Mr. Frick, I want to report to you that Decour is getting ahead with the Fragonard Room, and although I doubt his delivery will be before Christmas, I think everything has been done to push it ahead as much as possible. The work itself I feel sure will please you very much. The colouring which he proposed did no satisfy either Mr. Duveen or me, and we mixed another colour, which he evidently liked, although he did not say so, and he has now adopted it, and the work is likely to be a great success. The mouldings are excellent, and so is the carving. Made in Paris, we must expect the oak to crack, but that is not of great importance so long at the room is satisfactory from an artistic point of view. The lighting has been a most exciting problem. Decour was most insistent upon his cove lighting, but I am thankful to say that Mr. Duveen insisted upon the copy of the picture being tried with the room lighted from the cove. It instantly
