New York, February 22, 1915.

Messrs. Duveen Brothers, 720 Fifth Avenue, New York. Gentlemen: I hereby agree to purchase from you at the price you name, one million two hundred and fifty thousand ($1,250,000.00) dollars, the series of paintings by Jean Honore Fragonard, being the name you recently purchased from the estate of J. P. Morgan. The pictures to be delivered to me any time I desire them: in the meantime, they are to be kept fully insured by you, at my expense. Payment to be made March 1st, 1916, with interest from March 1st, 1915 at the rate of four (4%) percent per annum. You are to superintend their installation in the drawing room in my house, 1 East 70th Street without charge. Yours very truly,
