Dear Mr. Frick,
The traveler who I saw yesterday is looking very well: the automobile was at Havre to meet the Lorraine but as it was late the party preferred to come up by train. no doubt particulars have been given you.
I wired the other day the following cable:
"Most inconvenient to pay notes due June and July will you please advise your people to extend or better still wish you could sell that picture for me signed C. M. S.
I replied that we would arrange for renewals but that I hoped something would be paid on

account. I will wait until there has been time for me to receive a cable in reply to my cable & will then write to tell C. M. S. that the July note was discounted by the Union Trust Co of Pittsburg who will ?? a good payment on account. Will you kindly have ?? that part of the note or the whole of it if necessary will or can be renewed.
MR. ?? Noetzlin to whom you gave Carstairs & myself a letter of introduction wired us most cordially & politely. I saw him again yesterday. He said his bank did not have individual accounts: his words were these: "if you will allow me to be frank with you no bank in Pairs would extend the credit you MENTIONED ?? (a million francs or 1250000) without guarantee or collateral & that N. T.? OR J? where we were
