have seen the sky like he painted it otherwise would not have reproduced anything not realistic; the Corot - "Landscape" is a beauty and the Israels is a grand work. altogether it is worth while coming to Paris or any where else to secure such masterpieces, accept my very sincere congratulations. I sent you through our house here to forward to you in London the proofs of Helen's photographs, but received no reply as to the one you prefered SIC I took it upon myself to order "one dozen of the one where Helen is in the trap with Mademoiselle standing & the "groom" holding the pony." which I thought ?? the best in every way, as far as grouping also as clearness of photography. before leaving Aix some three weeks ago, Mr. ?? Blanc told me that you had written to him that you ordered two dozen & a half; I directed him to send them to us here and that in our shipments weekly, we

would pack them carefully in a caisse to N. Y. & express t hem at once to you; I also told the photographer to give one to the "groom".

I took the HANNAS out lunching after you left. Miss Hanna spoiled the whole thing for one she went out alone with Miss McCARDY ?? & the driver they had did not know the way so she drove & drove & did not get back until 9.30 at night. they forbade after that to go out any more, fortunately that I was not along, even if I had been there it would not have happened as I would have turned back long before to reach Aix at a proper hour. They went to Lucerne, & around Switzerland. They sail the latter part of this month for home.

I saw a great deal of Mr. Amos F. Eno & made all the excursions together. we often spoke of you, altogether I spent a very mild summer and feel like two fighting cocks but am not
