The son of William and Mary Turner, was born in Lindon. Began his career as an infant prodigy in his father's shop. Went to school at New Brentford and Margate. Was employed by different artists in making coloured prints, etc. Was apprenticed for a while to Thomas Walton Jr., the architect, who dismissed him for incapacity to learn perspective. year in green ink: Became a student of the Royal Academy and exhibited there the following year. Worked several years for engravers. year in green ink: 1790-'97 Explored England in search of subject. year in green ink: 1802 Was elected to the A. R. ship.
