thickness and quality as the other pictures of Velasquez, painted in the same years. The preparation of this canvas is reddish. It is mounted on a very old frame, and without supports, and the perforation is almost imperfect. Besides, instead of spreading over all the painted canvas, the same has been doubled and nailed round in the same way as, until a few years (ago) before the perforation, were the pictures "Las Meninas" and "Vista de la Villa Medici," of the Prado Museum, in which today can be seen the holes produced by the old perforation. In the Parma canvas, on the left side, one could see the doubled outside the frame a part of a second finger,
