recognize it as a sister of others of the same kind in which the master's pictures abound. In the Dulwich portrait are to be seen the same embroideries and the same lines and points, but the lack the spirit and grace which so increase the value of the canvas which we are now studying. The former might well pass for an original of Velasquez, by its precise colouring, by the harmony and beauty of the whole, which in the latter are not present, Today the comparison between both makes it patent that that of Dulwich is a fine copy, but only a copy nevertheless, of the Parma portrait.
