Aragon of 1644, referring to the execution of the Frapa portrait, I add, "This portrait of the King, now disappeared, was doubtless the origin of the Dulwich Gallery picture; in any case it must have offered analogous characteristics, for the King, according to the descriptions of the Frapa portrait, was wearing a suit similar to that shown in the Dulwich picture, which we believe to be by Mazo."....While writing these fines, the Daily Telegraph of the 17th December last comes to my hands, which inserts a reasoned and interesting article by the eminent English critic, Mr. Claude Phillips, under the heading of "An Unknown Velasquez," in which its author declared that no
