AELBERT CUYP HERDSMAN AND COWS ON A RIVER BANK Panel, 291/4 inches by 195/8 inches MEADOW, in which are a herd of five cows; four of them are lying down on the bank of a river. The herdsman, stripped to his shirt, is seated at the side looking for a flea. A river extends along the middle distance, on which are two small sailing boats; and the river is bounded by a line of low coast. Signed at the lower right "A. Cuyp." From the Collection of Philip H. RIVER SCENE WITH A BARGE FULL OF PASSENGERS Panel, 291/4 inches by 231/4 ON the river to the right, and close to the spectator, is a large sailing ship, with numerous passengers. it carries a Dutch flag and a red flag with a white bird. Other smaller vessels are in the distance. At the left is a landing-place with ducks. Signed on the rudder "A. Cuyp." Mentioned in Wagggen's "Treasures of Art in Great Britain," Vol. II, p. 279.
