[begin page 2 of 2] give me that Mr. Frick is appreciative of Art & a collector for himself, so that there is a community of feeling between him & me and the other that the [?] [?] & agreeable relations I have had our many years with your fine [?] make it very acceptable to me to be [?] to you in the desire to [?] the wishes of such a client as Mr. Frick. [?] as you propose [?], I will part with the [?] Rousseau & the fine Israels. Waiting for the sum of three [last two lines illegible] [begin facing page] the price at which I acquired them some years since. As fine examples of these two great Masters they [?] been criticism & comparison with the best of the [?] [?].

I so regret that Mr. & Mrs. Frick should have found the [?] [?] & the [?] absent.It would have been a real pleasure to my wife & myself to have [?] them had we not been living in the [wilds?] of [?] for the Autumn. [?] J.S. Forbes
