ARCHAEOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF AMERICA Office of the President Columbia University, New York, N.Y. Nov. 18th. 1918

My dear Mr. Bridge, On Oct. 24th I wrote to Mr. Frick, asking whether the Archaeological Institute and the American Philological Association might visit his gallery on the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 28th, when they will be holding their joint Annual Session here at Columbia University. In this year when it is especially hard to keep up the interest in intellectual matters of the type represented by these two organization, I am especially anxious to present the best possible attractions, in the hope of securing at least an average attendance, in spite of War and Influenza. No answer has reached me yet, and I am wondering whether you can find out for me whether my letter failed to reach Mr. Frick, or his to reach me, or whether I am to understand that silence in this case means the opposite of assent. Very truly yours, G.M. Whicher, Acting General Secretary
