20 PLACE VENDOME, PARIS 720 Fifth Avenue New York February 20th 1919 H. C Frick, Esq, Duveen Brothers Page #6 26396 An Old Original Life-Size Marble Portrait Bust of a Women. By Jean Antoine Houdon (1741-1828). The head is turned towards the right should and a faint smile passes over the lips which are slightly apart showing the teeth, The coiffure, exposing the ears, is fashioned upwards from the forehead and continued in heavy curls at the back of the head, one falling on the front of each shoulder. The breast and the arms are covered with a chemise edged with lace, leaving the throat and shoulders bare. A band passes below the breast and a heavy drapery is thrown back from the shoulders, falling at the front and entirely covering the piedouche behind. The plinth, at the right, bears the signature: A, Houdon fecit and 1777 Height of Bust, 39 inches. From the collection of the late Baron Adolphe de Rothschild, Paris, Exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1777. $225,000-00

26515 A Full-length Oil Painting by Sir Anthony Van Dyck (1599-1641). English-Flemish School. A Portrait of Lords John and Bernard Stuart. Younger sons of Esme, third Duke of Lenox. The former born 1621, killed at Alres-ford, 1644; the letter born 1623 (?), created Earl of Litch-field and killed at Rowton Heath, 1645. Double portrait. Full length standing figures, one in blue and silver, the other in yellow and brown dress. From the collection of the Earl (con) on following page.
