BISHOP WILLIAM PERRY EVELAND, D.D. (1916) MISS JEANNETTE FERGUS BAIRD (1916) 26 CONSTITUTION ARTICLE I Name This organization shall be called the New York Browning Society. ARTICLE II The object of this Society shall be to study the works of Robert Browning and sustain interest in the highest Literature, Music and Art. ARTICLE III Membership Section 1. There shall be Active, Associate, Non-Resident Honorary Members and Affiliated Clubs. Sec 2. Active members shall be women who take part in the work of the Society. Sec. 3. Associate members shall be men who take part in the work of the Society. Sec. 4. Non-Resident members shall be those whose residence may be too remote to attend meetings regularly. Sec. 5. Honorary members shall be Browning Scholars whose residence may be too remote to be Active or Associate members whom the Society may choose to elect. Sec. 6. Affiliated Clubs shall be organizations or circles of Browning Students. ARTICLE IV Officers The officers of this Society shall be a President, three Vice-Presidents, a Recording Secretary, a Corresponding Secretary, a Treasurer and a Recorder. The officers and the chairman of the Standing Committees shall constitute the Governing Board. 27
