September 24, 1915.

Dear Mr. Anson" I was so happy not to see your when you were here. I was wonderful whether the Duke of Devonshire would now sell his Memling. I am prepared to offer two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for it. I write you now regarding it inasmuch as I am considering the purchase of another one, but I would prefer his if it could be secured at that price. I hope this will fins you well. With kind regards, Sincerely yours, Hon. Alfred Anson, White's Club, London, England.
