Pride's Crossing Massachusetts, October 18, 1912.

Dear Sir: I am in receipt of your favor of the 9th. I pre-sume the picture you refer to is "Erasmus von Rotterdam." You do not give me the size of it-neither do you say any-thing about the coloring, I see it on page 37 in the book you refer to, I suppose it must be in fine condition, but you say nothing whatever about that. I am curious to know whether it is any larger than the one I bought from Edward Huth, namely, the :Sir Thomas More." the price men-tioned is certainly very high. I probably will be willing to make an offer after I hear further from you. Of course the matter will be strictly confidential.
