My dear Mr. Frick: I have just received a cable from my friend Mrs. Lewis Hind in London to effect that Sir Hugh Lane will sell the Holbein through me for $290,000 instead of $300,00 or more which he has till now always insisted he must have. As I told you he is in desperate need of immediate money and will make this concession if he can obtain money to meet pressing obligations and to keep possession of other pictures
