I realise that you must have missed this beautiful picture, but you have afforded an enormous number of lovers of Velasquez and opportunity of seeing it, which has been greatly appreciated. All the really appreciative people of London have been here to see it, and naturally the interest was greatly intensified owing to the Dulwich copy.

          The Van Goyen photograph you sent me does not look to be

genuine. We are writing the young lady in question.
