COPY IN LETTER BOOK.
Pride's Crossing, Massachusetts, June 26, 1908. My dear Mr. Carstairs: Your cable reading "Bought Constable Salisbury Cathedral, £8190; Turner, Mortlake £13230. Turner wonderful, companion for your Antwerp. Answer soon as possible", received yesterday, and I replied as follows: "Thanks, neither", While I have the greatest confidence in your judgment, yet, having two Turners, I would not care to purchase a third until after I have seen it. The Constable I probably should have, but it seems to me the price is very high. I cabled you promptly, as I thought it was only proper that you should lose no time or opportunity in making a sale. We are having beautiful weather on the North Shore. It is, however, rather quiet, so many people in mourning and many others gone abroad, Mrs. Frick, I regret to say, has been confined to her room almost continuously since our arrival here, but I hope she will soon improve.
