You may have seen by the papers that the Alexander Young collection has been recently purchased by Agnew and Wallis, They have divided it into 3 parts + given us the first chance at part I. There is the probability of the balance of the collection going to a public gallery, if not we are also to have 1st crack at part II which will not come about until next March. We bought 41 pictures of part I all of them fine saleable works comprising 8 Israels, 9 Maurer, 3 Jacob Maris, 3 William Maris, 2 Corots, 2 Troyons, Daubigny (one of the Claudon pictures) 2 Jacques, Rousseau, Van Marcke, Whistler, 2 Ziems, Monticilli, Dieterle, Artz, Ter Meulen + Blommers - All good purchases I presume you remember the large Corot it's about as big as the large Troyon you had hanging in your gallery last year, as long and higher. It has always been considered his masterpiece + was the greatest picture of Young's collection. It had the place of honor in the Corot exhibition held in Paris in Underlined:1895.
