Mr. H.C. Frick, Pittsburg, Pa.

Dear Mr. Frick:-

Our Paris office writes as follows concerning your Corot:- "I have been trying to obtain since last fall from Foinard (who sold the picture ot A. Roux) the pedigree of Corot but it is in vain. Poinard is a peasant, we cannot hope to get anything from him. He wants me now to pay for the information under the pretext that he only made Fcs. 2000 profit on the picture: fortunately I succeeded in getting the information from another party which is as follows:- "The Corot was a long time in the possession of a Mr. Grimaud who died some years ago; his widow sold it to the intermediium who sold it to Foinard, who in turn sold it to Mr. A. Roux."
We bought the picture from Mr. A. Roux for your account. Our Paris representative has instructions to gather what information he can concerning same.
As regards your Sir Joshua Reynolds, the following is a copy of a letter directed to me by Mr. Lockett Agnew, which I was under the impression I had already given you.

London, July 7th, 1898.
