Dec. 14th, 1898.

Mr. H. C. Frick, Pittsburgh, Pa.

Dear Mr. Frick:-

Your favor of the 13th inst., is at hand.
We are sending to-day to our Pittsburg office for your inspection the pastel by Millet "The shepherd and his flock," the price of which is $6000. - This pastel has been in the hands of one part for about forty years. They bought it through a friend from Millet himself. It was exhibited in 1873 at L'ecole des Beaux Arts. We are notified that it has never been showed elsewhere.
We wish we could get more works of this kind as they are getting extremely scarce.
I am sending you under separate cover a catalog of the Loan Exhibition of Portraits which opens to-day. I have just been around there and there are really some very interesting works which will interest you to see when next here.
    With kind regards, believe me,
    Very truly yours,
    Roland F. Knoedler
