in graphite: 18 heading in green ink: Johannes Van Der Meer 1632-1675

The son of Reynier Van Der Meer (or Vermeer) - and of Dignum Balthasars, was born in Delft. year in green ink: 1653 Married Catharina Bolenes. Was inscribed as master-painter in the Guild of St. Luke, where his apprenticeship lasted six years. Was one of the headmen of the Guild, for some years. He died poor, at the age of forty-three, leaving no children.
