Ellmer, Propre.] The Carnegie Steel Co., Limited Chairman's Office April 13 1894 [scale with an arrow just after 3:30 P.M.] ANSWERED Cannes Mch 31st 1894 Dear Mr. Frick Yours of the 17th just rec'd - Very glad to hear our first Harvey plate resulted well, Stone is sound - Softer back, behind the hard surface, next plate lower carbon - Surely this [Armor?] fuss will be the last thing dragging Homestead before the public - I hope so - I cannot believe the Johnsen people are such fools as to build Rail mill when demand for Rails in the U.S. must henceforth be so small as not to occupy [end page 1 of 4, left side] [begin page 1 of 4, right side] one half existing mills. It is [?] Maryland over again - Johnsons better leave Cambria which they could no doubt do just now - Mr. Johnston seems to be a mild talking man - If he were [???] the man for us P. could sell him [?] stock with permission, but I can't think him sound judicious & safe - partners are [?] think. I am glad to hear price of Coke Land per acre. You speak nothing about Rainey - 1$ coke must to the work I fear - 85¢ as reported would soon bring matter right. I thought it had revealed that - better put it there & let it stay until all come in - I should like to get every Coke man to dinner once & after a good dinner propose to bunch as I did with the Pgh Ben[?] People. Note I & L are going to roll wire [end page 1 of 4, right side]
