[begin page 1 or 2] PITTSBURGH AND WESTERN R.R. CO. Balto Md. Oct 15/85 Mr. Andrew Carnegie Windsor Hotel New York. Dear Sir - Sometime since you promised me that you would give the Pittsburgh & Western a good share of your business to and from the lakes. Lately there has been a very large falling off in your trade it being diverted to the other lines.

As the Pittsburgh & Western is a struggling road, and knowing your kindly feeling toward it and your friends in Pittsburgh who are largely interested in it, I write to ask if you will not please use your good endeavors toward giving us some of the ore shipments now coming forward [end page 1 of 2]
