M. KNOEDLER & CO, SUCCESSORS TO GOUPIL & CO, 355 FIFTH AVENUE, NEW YORK. – CABLE ADDRESSES. KNOEDLER—NEW YORK. KNOEDLER—PARIS. PARIS OFFICE, 2 RUE GLÜCK.

March 20th, 1899.

MR. H. C. FRICK, Pittsburg, Pa.

Dear Mr. Frick: – In reply to your telegram, we wired to your residence that Mr. Chartran would begin Mr. Knox's portrait on Wednesday morning. If you are not coming on will you please suggest how you would like to have him posed. I understood that you wanted a full length figure, or will one of the same size as yours do? We received from Paris this morning a photograph of the Thaulow, "The Smoky City, Pittsburg," now being exhibited at Geo. Petit's Gallery. Our representative speaks very highly of it. Will you want it sent here on the close of the exhibition or do you wish to keep it in Paris until you get there? I tried very hard to sell Mr. Mellon the Daubigny and the Corot. He was particularly struck with the latter, but does not seem to care to buy yet. Very truly yours, Signed: Roland F. Knoedler
