Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Mass.

November 26, 1910

Dear Mr. Lane: At Mr. Fairbanks's request I am sending you the enclosed proof with a few small suggestion which we do not feel like deciding. I am sending it to your house, as the office informs me that you will not be back from Manchester until late. I give the points in order. Is it necessary to give the name of the Museum when the seal is immediately underneath? It seems to me "inclusive" is too unimportant to be emphasized. "Burgomaster" is good English. I do not know where "burgermeister" is Dutch or not. Greco's picture must certainly be an ideal representation of St. Jerome and not a portrait. Lady Hamilton (Nature). Does this mean Lady Hamilton represented as Dame Nature or that picture was taken from life? I realize that this list may be conceived as Mr. Prick's own choice and that, therefore, all these suggestions are out of place except the first two. Yours very truly, Gardiner M. Lane Esq., 53 Marlborough St., Boston
