Trustee, is perfectly safe in paying the proceeds to you on your receipt and discharge, coupled, as he says you have offered to give him such, with that of your son for any interest he may have in the matter. I have said to Sir Edward, however, that I think it is only right that our business account in connection with the creation of the Trust, which has lain over for five years now, should be paid, to which I understand you are quite agreeable; and also that the expense which has, in consequence of the removal of the "Raeburns", to be incurred in doing up the Langley staircase, should be paid out of the price. This is only proper I think as it is an expense incident to the sale of the pictures. I don't know what your ideas are as to the investment of the price, but it has occurred to me that you could not make a better investment than the paying off of the L550 Bond over Langley held by Miss Bowen. This Bond bears interest at 4% and it would be very difficult, if not impossible, for you to get an investment for the money to yield a higher rate than that, and at the same time run no risk of loss of capital. If you wished to have the benefit of the interest of the money, rather than let it fall into the Langley Park Trust Estate, this could be arranged by your taking an assignation of Miss Bowen's Bond, and Sir Edward paying you the interest on the L550 instead of Miss Bowen. I only suggest this in your interests as being a good investment for the money. Personally, as acting for Miss Bowen I would be very sorry to have the Bond repaid. I am glad to say that my Uncle is now out, and once he gets a little change he will be all right again.

I am, Yours faithfully, A.W. Cruikshank Esq., 5 Branch Hill Hampstead, London.
