Dear Mr. Frick


I am dispatching through Chenue the Rubens portrait. I have had it relined, cleaned and varnished and I have had the good fortune to find a contemporary frame for it. I do not pretend that it will be one of the great things in your collection but I think you will agree that it is eminently worthy to take its place there. I am hoping to find out more about the original of the portrait whom I believe to be a Gonzaga from the Director of the Gallery at Mantua.


I heard the other day that you had not received my report on the Holbein of Sir Thomas More. Please let
