Dear Mr. Frick.

I am at last able to give you an account of the matter of the Polish Rider which may interest you. Count Tarnowski the owner had always thought that if he could get 1 1/2 million francs he would sell. Recently he received an offer of £44000 with a good copy and any condition made ?? (no question about condition of picture, purchase direct from the chateau etc). This offer held good till Apr. 20. His brothers, also Count Tarnowski, who is in the American Embassy here ?? of this and ?? that his brother was inclined to accept it. He made inquiries and came to a small dealer, Carfax & Co whom he knew. Mr. Clifton the principal of the firm DELETED TEXT came to /DELETED TEXT brought him to me to KNOW?? if the price was adequate.
