M. Knoedler & Co. Successors to Goupil & Co. 355 Fifth Avenue. New York. Cable Address. Knoedler-New York. Knoedler-Paris. Paris Office, 2 Rue Gluck.

October 17th, 1898 Mr. H. C. Frick. Carnegie Bldg., Pittsburgh, Pa.

Dear Mr. Frick:- I was surprised to learn by your telegram that our friend was "not in it", I cannot understand his being left out of the race. I have sent down to our Custom House broker to get full particulars concerning the bronze, and as soon as received will send them to you, but your Swan certainly ought to come in as a work of Art, and not a manufactured article. Chase sends me the enclosed, and says that he will let me know when he has further information upon the subject. This clipping is the same as what you read in Johnstons catalogue. Very truly yours,

Roland F. Knoedler

Office of Oct 18 1898 Ans'd H. C. FRICK.
