January 11th, 1901. MR. H. C. FRICK. Pittsburg, Pa. Dear Sir: We thank you for your check of $400. in settlement of enclosed bill for a painting by R. W. van Boskerck, entitled "Evening in the Narra-ganset Country", for which we herewith return your voucher duly receipted. Glad that you were on hand to protect defence-less women and to frighten away burglars. Mr. F. B. McGuire, Director of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, whom we took to Chartran's studio and who saw your "Protocol", has requested us to say that he would ask your permission to exhibit it in their gallery.
