My dear Mr Frick, Another portrait of great beauty, importance has turned up. I send you a small photograph. It comes straight from the Spinola family for whom Tintoretto painted it in 1551. It is the most dignified, also the most Titianesque of all Tintoretto's portraits, all is greys blacks, warm golden flesh colour. It is a large picture 51x44 in. in splendid condition, has a force, vitality which make it one of the great things of Italian portraiture. The price asked is £6000. It seems about to
