My dear Mr. Frick,

I have much pleasure in sending you through our New York house a catalogue of the Hainauer collection acquired by us a little while ago. This collection, as I wrote you some time ago, is a very important one, and has naturally attracted a great deal of attention from all parts. Unfortunately, we received it rather late for our London season and further it requires a lot of work to get it properly arranged and put into presentable form, as the whole collection has been lying dormant in Berlin for twelve years since the late owner died.

In this collection, as you will see by the catalogue, which by the way is in both English and German, are a marvellous lot of very fine things. It was formed by the Berlin banker Herr Oscar Hainauer, under the guidance and with the assistance of the well known Dr. Bode of the Berlin Museum, and the catalogue itself was made by Dr. Bode in 1897 by order of the deceased owner's widow.

I particularly want to draw your attention to some of the more important pictures in this collection, many of which are interesting.
