My dear Sir: Mr. Joseph Lindon Smith tells me that you are the giver to the Museum of Fine Arts of the three pictures of the Egyptian tomb painted by him. Allow me to thank you most sincerely for this gift. The pictures are a most welcome addition to our collections. It is a pleasure to find that you are interested in the work of the Museum. I shall be glad to show you our collections at any time should you care to see them. Perhaps you are already familiar with them. I understand that you do not wish it generally known that these pictures have been given by you. Very truly yours, Gardiner M. Lane President of the Museum
