[begin page 2 of 2] good condition & a beautiful picture but is not a portrait & personally I don't care very much for a genre picture by Gainsborough. It appeals to me as being rather insipid although one might call it pensive. This is merely personal with me you might like it immensely but I shouldn't care particularly for the responsibility of recommending it, although I think you can judge it very well from the photograph, in other words if you like the subject you will like the picture.

It is painted rather in the manner of his landscapes, and not in the subtle light manner which to me is the great charm of his portraits.

If you want me to do anything in the matter for you cable me & I will attend to it. The above price is in London and it would have to be invoiced at whatever we pay for it.
